From Zero to Hero - SKILL Wheels
In 2020, two events left a deep impression on me: the COVID-19 pandemic and SKILL’s visit. SKILL was incredibly professional.
On December 5, 2019, I received a call from Piter, who introduced SKILL to me as the owner of a large clothing factory in the Russian Far East. They wanted to expand into importing high-end forged wheels from China and planned to visit our company after the Chinese New Year. I was intrigued by how a clothing factory owner could have such a deep understanding of forged wheels and a visionary approach to online and offline marketing in Russia.
After a long wait due to the pandemic, SKILL finally visited on April 2nd. With 25 years in the clothing business, SKill was highly knowledgeable about production, quality control, and marketing. They particularly appreciated our factory’s use of high-quality aluminum, forging processes, and meticulous quality control. We found common ground immediately, and after a full day and night of discussions, I was confident that SKILL could create a successful high-end forged wheel brand.
This confidence was well-placed. After four years of joint development, SKILL has become the most renowned forged wheel brand in the Russian aftermarket. In 2022, at our peak, our design team was creating more than 20 different wheel models daily for SKILL, covering everything from Monoblock to Two-pieces, and from Off-Road to modification. Our collaborative designs won over high-end Russian customers, and together, we even sponsored the Russian RDS GP championship, where our wheels helped the ATCL drift team secure the top spot.
The collaboration with SKILL not only elevated their brand but also brought valuable insights from their garment industry management and quality control practices into our FREEMAN team. This has made our factory management and forged wheel quality control stand out in China, and our FREEMAN brand has become a favorite among Chinese sellers.
Growing alongside SKILL, we’ve gone from Zero to Hero. This journey has strengthened my belief that for any new customers entering the forged wheel industry and choosing to trust us at FREEMAN, we have the experience and expertise to help them achieve the same success.
